Stress for Kerala: Nipah Infection Detected Again

Kerala on alert as people there are in tension of their lives and survival. This is all because of a virus named Nipah who has increased stress among people. A Kozhikode man has suspected symptoms of this hazardous virus and been hospitalized after preliminary tests conducted at medical college which result positive. This indicates that man possibly has a chances of Nipah infection.

Looking on to the matter, our respected Health Minister K Muraleedharan has further conveyed that people should remain calm and no need to panic as approval from National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune is still awaited. According to him he will proceed in making decision after receiving results from Pune. In his investigation he found that person has taken a godown on rent and personally settled it. It is suspected that he might came in contact with bats.

As things are not properly clear so health officers are taking this as suspected case and treating him with full precautions. On the other side, Ramanattukara municipality (place where patient resides) organized a meeting to examine the situation. Medical officials revealed that man initially recovered from fever but again suffered from same within a few days. In between this period he visited hospital many times.

Muraleedharan has further asked hospital authorities and other staff members who came in contact with the patient to follow the process of quarantine and live separately from others. Medical officials informed that the patient has been shifted from private hospital to Kozhikode medical college at around 11pm where he was kept in Nipah isolation ward functioning inside the hospital.
